Brand Partners is immensely proud to have worked alongside Vasey Communities over the last seven-years to bring Kokoda Residences to life, and now to organise the official Opening Ceremony on Wednesday 19 October, has been a great honour.

Welcomed by Vasey Communities former Chairman and Board Director and the ceremonial MC, Colonel Keith Schollum (RETD), he presented a special “brief history of time” video made by Brand Partners to show the journey of the project leading up to this special day.

Vasey Communities’ Chairman, Kate Gunton, reflected on the project’s vision and background along with insights into the history of the organisation itself.

Graham Hooper, Vasey Communities’ CEO, followed this with more specific details about Kokoda Residences’ architectural vision, the clever design features that make the apartments and facilities so age friendly (but not noticeable), the distinct quality of build, through to the significant naming of the key community spaces.

A personal story was also shared by Brand Partners employee, Maureen Malouf, who has been selling Kokoda Residences from the very beginning, and now, along with her husband, even chose to buy, and was amongst the first residents to move in back in late August – what more trust could this provide to the depositors and enquirers than Maureen’s own decision to make Kokoda Residences home.

150 invited guests witnessed the NSW Governor, Her Excellency, the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC as Patron of Vasey Communities, formally open Kokoda Residences by unveiling the plaque, with Chairman Kate Gunton alongside.

The Opening Ceremony date of this much-praised retirement community coincided with the 125th birthday of Vasey Communities’ inspirational Founder Mrs Jessie Vasey.  A special ceremonial video was shown to pay tribute to Mrs Jessie Vasey, created by Brand Partners.

This made the location of the ceremony in Kokoda Residences’ community lounge, ‘Jessie’s Place’, a poignant and inspirational choice.

Her Excellency and Mr Wilson were then taken on a formal tour of Kokoda Residences by Vasey Communities’ Chairman Ms Gunton, accompanied by Mr Hooper and Colonel Schollum, while the guests enjoyed canapes and cupcakes made specially to celebrate Jessie Vasey’s 125th birthday.

It was fantastic to see the joy and comradery among residents, with many describing the night as magnificent, elegant and sophisticated.
